Topics and activities of the Wolf Conservation trip

Volunteers will be integral to the wolf conservation project, assisting in vital tasks that ensure the well-being of the sanctuary’s residents. Activities will include preparing meals for the wolves, monitoring their health, and participating in forest maintenance.

You'll receive training from experienced supervisors, ensuring you’re well-prepared for your role. The project not only aims to support the wolves but also to educate volunteers about the importance of wildlife conservation, fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Arrival and orientation

Upon arrival at Lisbon International Airport (LIS), volunteers will travel to the small town of Vale da Guarda, where the sanctuary is located. Orientation begins with an overview of the project, introducing you to your fellow volunteers and the dedicated staff. This is a chance to settle in, familiarize yourself with the sanctuary, and understand your role in the conservation efforts.

Accommodation and board in Vale da Guarda

Volunteers will stay in cozy wooden cabins on the sanctuary grounds, sharing accommodations with fellow participants. Each cabin is equipped with essential amenities, including a shared kitchen and bathroom.

While daily meals are at your own expense, grocery shopping trips are organized weekly, allowing volunteers to prepare their meals together. This communal cooking experience fosters teamwork and camaraderie among volunteers.

Leisure time

Weekends provide a great opportunity to explore Portugal’s rich culture and stunning landscapes. Volunteers can venture into Lisbon or enjoy local excursions, discovering beautiful beaches, historical sites, and delicious cuisine. In the evenings, relax with your fellow volunteers by reading, playing games, or simply enjoying the serene surroundings of the sanctuary.
