Topics and activities in Uganda

This program combines hands-on experience with meaningful conservation efforts. As a volunteer, you’ll participate in vital activities such as monitoring chimpanzees and elephants, conducting research, and engaging in wildlife protection strategies. A major focus of this project is addressing the human-wildlife conflicts, particularly how local farmers are affected by elephants and chimpanzees damaging crops.

By creating solutions like beehive fences and biogas systems, you'll directly contribute to reducing these conflicts and fostering better coexistence between the animals and local communities. Additionally, your work with local farmers will help implement more sustainable practices to protect Uganda’s natural resources.

Arrival and orientation

Upon arrival in Uganda, you'll be welcomed at Entebbe Airport by a project staff member who will transport you to Fort Portal. This drive will take around 4 hours, offering you an opportunity to relax and enjoy scenic views.

Once you arrive, you'll be briefed on the project the following morning, giving you a comprehensive understanding of your role in the conservation efforts.

Orientation will provide insight into the local culture and the specific tasks you'll undertake during your volunteering experience, ensuring you're well-prepared for the exciting journey ahead.
