If you want to feel useful, learn differently and act for the environment, this internship is for you!
Arrival and orientation in Bali
Most international interns fly into Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar), the main airport in Bali. From there, Livingseas Asia is located in Padangbai, a peaceful coastal village about 1.5 to 2 hours from the airport by car.
Transfer to Padangbai: Livingseas Asia can help arrange your airport pick-up and transfer to your accommodation in Padangbai. You’ll be welcomed by a friendly local driver who knows the area well and will make sure you arrive safely.
Once you arrive in Padangbai, you’ll begin with a welcome briefing by your internship supervisor to get you settled:
- Introduction to the Livingseas team and fellow interns
- Overview of the marine conservation projects
- Local tips for life in Bali
- Tour of the dive center and the surrounding area
- Q&A session to help you feel fully prepared
»Coral reefs represent some of the world's most spectacular beauty spots, but they are also the foundation of marine life: without them, many of the sea’s most exquisite species will not survive.«
Accommodation and board during the internships
The course takes place in Padangbai, and there are various accommodation options available nearby. Here are some recommendations from Livingseas:
- Absolute Scuba: located directly on the shoreline of Padangbai Beach, free wifi, air-conditioning, hot/cold water
- Bloo Lagoon: eco resort that overlooks the ocean above Padangbai
- Dharma Homestay: small and familiar guesthouse in the heart of Padangbai, perfect for a smaller budget

Leisure time during the internship
At Livingseas Asia, the marine conservation internship adapts to you, not the other way around. The schedule is very flexible: you are free to dive when you want, and if you do not feel like it someday, it’s not a problem, there is no obligation.
The dives usually take place in the morning and end around 2pm, which leaves you the whole afternoon free to rest, explore the surroundings or enjoy the beach.
And if you want to take a few days to travel around the island or discover other parts of Indonesia, it’s quite possible. The team is open and understanding: your well-being and personal experience count as much as your contribution to the project.
This internship is primarily a balance between ecological commitment, personal freedom and human adventure in the heart of Bali.
The region of Bali
Bali is a true paradise for lovers of the sea and nature. Here, you’ll find stunning white sand beaches such as Blue Lagoon and Bias Tugel, as well as exceptional underwater worlds teeming with coral and marine biodiversity.
The island offers an ideal setting for relaxation, yoga, and meditation, all under the watchful gaze of Mount Agung, Bali’s sacred volcano. Plus, the Gili and Lombok islands are just a short boat ride away, perfect for weekend getaways. Beyond its natural beauty, Bali is a dynamic island with several vibrant cities to explore.
Denpasar, the capital, serves as the administrative and cultural heart of the island. Ubud, nestled in the lush interior, is famous for its rice terraces, art galleries, and spiritual atmosphere. Canggu has become a trendy hotspot for surfers and digital nomads, offering a lively mix of cafes, beaches, and nightlife. For those seeking more excitement, Seminyak and Kuta are bustling seaside resorts ideal for shopping and evening outings.
Living in Padangbai places you at the crossroads of local tranquility and urban energy, with easy access to both peaceful villages and the island’s more cosmopolitan attractions—especially on weekends.
